PROGRAM TITLE: What Makes a Great Leader?

PURPOSE STATEMENT: Following is the Course Information Detail for Leadership Development Training Programs. As a courtesy for EAP customers, this Leadership Development course description is in standard continuing education format. * The Leadership development series is intended to enhance the personnel supervision skills of workplace supervisors and managers.

PROGRAM SUMMARY: There are many books, podcasts, and websites about leadership development that identify what makes a great leader. This year’s leadership development training will look at some of the characteristics that make a great leader and ways in which to continue to grow and develop these in yourself and in others that you may lead. It will also focus on some of issues that are facing companies and leaders in 2026 and ways to navigate some of the opportunities and challenges this can create.

In addition, this year’s training will include the state requirements for an hour of drug and alcohol supervisor training for a drug free workplace.

OBJECTIVES

Participants will:

  1. Discuss some of the themes that are shaping the workplace in 2026 and how to navigate these opportunities and challenges
  2. Identify the culture and mission of your workplace and how to utilize this with employees
  3. Identify the importance of hope and trust within the workplace, how to maintain it, and rebuild it.
  4. Discuss in small groups different questions and case scenarios to help facilitate skill-building.
  5. Identify work performance problems related to substance misuse and abuse

OUTLINE

Session I:

  • Discuss the themes that are shaping the workplace in 2026
  • Identify the importance of hope and trust within the workplace
  • Use small groups to facilitate discussion and skill-building.

Session II:

  • Work performance problems related to substance misuse and abuse
