Title: Constructive Confrontation – Helping Employees Succeed
PURPOSE STATEMENT: Following is the Course Information Detail for Leadership Development Training Programs. As a courtesy for EAP customers, this Leadership Development course description is in standard continuing education format.* The Leadership development series is intended to enhance the personnel supervision skills of workplace supervisors and managers.
PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Conflict is an inevitable part of life, including in the workplace. The key to conflict resolution is to learn how to resolve the conflict in a healthy manner. Constructive confrontation is one such method designed to deal with conflicts in a healthy manner. The goal of constructive confrontation is to minimize the destructive elements of conflict and develop an approach that focusses on empowerment for all parties in order to build stronger work relationships. This year’s training will utilize education, case studies, and group discussion.
In addition, this year’s training will include the state requirements for an hour of drug and alcohol supervisor training for a drug-free workplace.
OBJECTIVES
Participants will:
- Identify what constructive confrontation is and how that can look in the workplace.
- Discuss trends, such as quiet quitting, generational differences, and employee well-being, which are contributing to workplace conflict.
- Identify tools that will aid in resolution and minimize the destructive elements of conflict.
- Discuss in small groups different case scenarios to feel better equipped if these situations arise.
- Identify work performance problems related to substance misuse and abuse.
OUTLINE
Session (Hour) I:
- Identify what constructive confrontation is and the different ways that it can be utilized in the workplace.
- Discuss different trends that are contributing to the necessity for constructive confrontation.
Session (Hour) II:
- Identify tools that can help facilitate this process.
- Discuss through case scenarios how to utilize these new skills.
Session (Hour) III:
- Work performance problems related to substance misuse and abuse.
