Leadership Development Seminar 2023

Title: Tools and Techniques for Dealing with Problematic Work Behaviors

PURPOSE STATEMENT: Following is the Course Information Detail for Leadership Development Training Programs. As a courtesy for EAP customers, this Leadership Development course description is in a standard continuing education format.* The Leadership development series is intended to enhance the personnel supervision skills of workplace supervisors and managers.

PROGRAM SUMMARY: Many workplaces are reporting an increase in challenging encounters they are facing at work with employees, such as negative communication styles, disrespectful encounters with fellow workers, customers, and supervisors, and personal struggles that are impacting their work. While there is no one-size-fits-all solution for these situations, this year’s training will focus on providing tools and techniques so supervisors can feel better equipped to respond and intervene. This will be achieved through education, case studies, and discussion.

The observation and intervention steps for the employee distracted by chemical abuse will meet participating state requirements for an hour of drug and alcohol supervisor training in drug testing in their drug-free workplaces.

OBJECTIVES

Participants will:

  1. Identify problematic work behaviors that employers have experienced with employees at a high rate over the past years, including professionalism, technology issues, aggressive behavior, and personal struggles that are impacting the workplace.
  2. Discuss how stress and worry are at an all-time high and how this may be impacting problematic work behavior.
  3. Identify tools and techniques that may be effective in decreasing negative behaviors and increasing positive ones.
  4. Discuss in small groups different case scenarios to feel better equipped if these situations arise
  5. Identify work performance problems related to substance misuse and abuse
